Ann L. Hungerford, 92, of Whiting, Iowa, formerly of Salix, passed away Friday, July 29, 2011, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, with the Rev. Patrick O'Kane officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a Scripture prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Ann Louise was born Aug. 16, 1918, at Salix, Iowa, the daughter of Maurice and Mae (Beaubien) Mulvihill. She was raised in the Salix area and graduated from Salix High School.

Ann and Daniel T. Hungerford were united in marriage in June 1941 at Salix. The couple made their home at various locations in the area, where Dan taught school and was a high school coach. Ann attended beauty school and operated a beauty shop at Holstein, Iowa, and later Hinton, Iowa, retiring in the late 60's. Later they moved to Salix, where they enjoyed their retirement. Dan passed away Dec. 22, 1980.

Ann was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society. She enjoyed sewing, current events and traveling.

Survivors include a son, Donald Hungerford and his wife, Marla of Spirit Lake, Iowa; a daughter, Diane and her husband, Ray Gengler of Chesaning, Mich.; two grandchildren, Dana and her husband, Steve Olson of Omaha, Neb., and Duke Hungerford of Eagan, Minn.; three great-grandchildren, Michael and Nicholas Olson and Jace Hungerford; two sisters, Marian Terry of Grand Island, Neb., and Edith Powell of Derby, Kan.; and two brothers, Louis Mulvihill of Sioux City, and Patrick and his wife, Mildred of Salix.

In addition to her husband, Dan, she was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter-in-law, Dawn Hungerford; two sisters, Grace (Jim) Chilton and Elwyne (Henry) Lamoureux; two brothers, James Mulvihill and Michael (Phyllis) Mulvihill; a sister-in-law, Lucille Mulvihill; and two brothers-in-law, Fred Terry and "Red" Powell.
