Carol A. Barnacle, 63, of Sioux City died Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Creighton University Hospital in Omaha.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, 822 Jennings Street, with Major Dave and Mary Corliss of the Salvation Army officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday prior to services at the funeral home.

Carol Barnacle was born Sept. 8, 1947, in Sioux City, to William and Lila Gude. She graduated from Central High School. She was a member of the Salvation Army.

Carol met her husband, Henry Barnacle of Sommerville, Mass., at Aksarben Horse Track in Omaha. They later moved to Salem, N.H.

Carol loved doing crafts and cooking in her spare time. She also loved dogs and horses and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Carol had participated in the Sioux City Civil Air Patrol, an organization she felt strongly about.

Survivors include her mother, Lila Gude of North Sioux City; two sons, Eric Barnacle of Grand Island, Neb., and Michael Barnacle of Boston, Mass.; three sisters, Diane Garner and Debra Kimmer of Sioux City, and Vickie Goergen of Mesa, Ariz.; one brother, Kelly Gude of Arizona; six nephews; four nieces; and three grandchildren, Destiny, Karlie and Blake Barnacle of Grand Island.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Barnacle; her father, William J. Gude; and a brother, William Gude.

A memorial has been established in Carol's name.
