Neola Lucia Lyon, 85, of Raleigh, N.C., formerly of Anthon, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Blue Ridge Health Care Center in Raleigh.

Private services will be at a later date in Burke, S.D. Arrangements are under the direction of Cremation Society of the Carolinas in Raleigh.

Neola was born May 3, 1926, in Anthon, to the late Charles and Florence (Davis) Bennett of Anthon.

Neola married her husband, Archie, on Nov. 10, 1945, in Anthon. They were married 60 years until Archie passed away in January 2006. To this union, three children were born.

She was a resident of Covington Assisted Living for three years.

Neola was a dedicated member of United Methodist Church in Anthon for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Neola was a kind and sweet-natured soul who always put others before herself and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

Neola is survived by her daughter, Lynn (Hakan) Fransson of Raleigh; her son, Ron Lyon of Raleigh; six grandchildren, Carmen Hutchison, Craig Lyon, Jody Albertson, Jenny Chonis and Evan and Calvin Fransson; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margie (Fred) Leiby of Riverside, Calif., Myrna Jones of San Diego, Calif., and Charlene Kraft of Santa Barbara, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Mary Jo Lyon of Brookings, S.D.; a daughter-in-law, Leigh Lyon of Burke; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Archie; and a son, Randy Lyon of Burke.
