Constance L. Mathison, 75, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at a local hospital.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with family present at 6 p.m. and a remembrance service beginning at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Constance was born June 28, 1936, in Salix, Iowa, to Homer E. and Macey Margaret (Fricken) Metcalf. She received her early education in Climbing Hill, Iowa, and Sergeant Bluff before finishing her high school education at Central High School in Sioux City.

Constance married Robert O. Mathison on Dec. 7, 1957, in Elk Point, S.D. She was a proud mother of five children and treasured family above all else.

Constance enjoyed traveling with her husband to various destinations, but always found Laughlin, Nev., as a favorite. She was talented at various crafts and enjoyed playing cards. Constance was a past treasurer of the Sioux City Cribbage Club.

Constance is survived by her husband, Robert of Sioux City; children, Robert Mathison Jr. and his wife, Marcie of Cushing, Iowa, Ronald Mathison, Ryan Mathison, Debra Elgert and her husband, Mark, and Julie Mathison, all of Sioux City; brother, Duane Metcalf of Des Moines; sister, Cleora "Toots" Ferrara of Sioux City; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Constance was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Cliff, Don, Morris, and Virgil.

Pallbearers will be Robert Mathison Jr., Ronald Mathison, Adam Mathison, Mark Elgert, Josh Elgert, and Josh Borchers.
