Frieda M. Craig, 91, of Sloan died Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa following a long illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3204 South Lakeport, in Sioux City, with the Rev. Russell Senstad and Rev. David Zirpel officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Root Funeral Home in Onawa, Iowa. Frieda was born on April 24, 1921, in Oakdale, Neb., to Fred and Edna (Barnes) Schwarz. She moved as a child to Iowa with her family and graduated from Climbing Hill High School in 1938. She attended Wayne State College for one year.

She married Ray H. Craig on Dec. 25, 1941, in South Sioux City. He is deceased (1987). To this union four sons were born. While raising her family, Frieda worked in Sloan businesses and later worked at Zenith and Palmer Candy Company in Sioux City.

She enjoyed solving word puzzles, reading, writing in her journals, baking, and playing cards with her many friends. She blessed her family and friends with her sharp-witted humor and words of wisdom. She will be missed forever. She was a faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her children, Ray and Diane Craig of Sioux Falls, S.D., Fred and Deb Craig of Sun Prairie, Wis., Tom and Ann Craig of Centerville, Iowa, and Jim and Pamy Craig of Lisbon, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; soon-to-be 24 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marjorie McIntyre of Eureka, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Donna Schwarz of Spencer, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; two brothers; and her husband.
