Jim Karhoff, 73, of Anthon passed away Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon, with the Rev. Daniel M. Greving officiating. Burial will be in Mount St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Anthon. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, with a wake service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.

Jim was born Feb. 10, 1939, in Danbury, Iowa, to Tom and Betty (Fitzpatrick) Karhoff. He attended St. Patrick's Grade School in Danbury and graduated from Danbury Catholic School in 1957.

Upon graduation, he worked for Booth and Olsen and later Irving F. Jensen, both construction companies. In 1966, he began working for Wilson Foods. He retired in 1993 due to ill health.

On Nov. 14, 1959, he married Cec Forch at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon. They had three children, Rhonda, Danny and Patty.

Jim was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He loved to go to the casino where he met and visited many of past co-workers.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Cec; his daughters, Rhonda (Duane) Reinholdt of Cherokee, Iowa, and Patty (Kenny) Kollbaum of Anthon; four grandchildren, Derek and Dalton Kollbaum and Andy and Jason Kerns; a step-grandson, Seth Reinholdt; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill (Jean) Karhoff of Danbury; two sisters, Shirley Burmeister of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Nadine Plautz of Danbury; four nieces and two nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dan in 1997; a sister, Jean Marie Pokorny; and two brothers-in-law, Don Burmeister and Verdett Plautz.
