Lela M. Williams, 65, of Hornick died Thursday, Aug.16, 2012, at her home, following a short illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Peace Reformed Church in Sioux City, with Pastor Bob Rook officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel of Christy–Smith Funeral Homes in Sioux City.

Lela was born Jan. 28, 1947, the daughter of Dewey and Viola (Woerner) Krumwiede. She grew up and attended grade school in Homer, Neb. She attended high school in South Sioux City, graduating in 1965. She later attended Wayne (Neb.) State College.

Lela married Norman Williams on Jan. 13, 1968, in Homer. After they married, Lela and Norman farmed in the Hornick area, where they have resided since.

Lela was a homemaker and a farm wife while raising her children. She taught Bible School and Sunday School, and was a 4-H leader. She later worked at MCI and Younkers. Most recently she was enjoying retirement with her husband and family.

Lela was a member of Peace Reformed Church, where she enjoyed Bible studies with many friends.

She enjoyed being a farm wife. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and her cat, Bo. Her enjoyments in life included cooking, baking, sewing, swimming, reading being outside in the yard and gardening. She lovingly prepared many family meals from scratch.

Survivors include her husband, Norman of Hornick; four children, Sheri (Shawn) Counterman of Sioux Falls, S.D., Shane (Angie) Williams of Bronson, Iowa, Shanda (and) Brian Murphy of Bronson and Shauna (Jason) Yockey of Hornick; eight grandchildren, Skyler, Brittany and Cassie Counterman and Cody, Ashley, Casey, Dakota and Haley Williams; and a brother, Neil Krumwiede of Homer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Keene Krumwiede.
