Phyllis M. Franker, 84, of Olathe, Kan., formerly of Sioux City, received her reward and was sent home to be with her Savior on May 23, 2012.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

She was born at the Lutheran Hospital in Sioux City, on Nov. 24, 1927. Phyllis was the daughter of Walter and Anna (Olsen) Hinrichs of Hinton, Iowa. She, along with two sisters, was raised on a farm outside Hinton. Phyllis graduated from Hinton High School in 1945.

She married Arthur Franker of Milford, Iowa, on July 2, 1949. Phyllis and Arthur lived in Sioux City for more than 45 years, where they raised their four children. They were active members of Calvary Lutheran Church in Leeds, and Phyllis served as a Sunday school teacher there for more than 25 years.

Phyllis was a member of the Sioux City Quota Club, where she had served as president. She worked for 29 years at St. Luke’s Medical Center (formerly Lutheran Hospital) and retired there in 1994 as the director of Volunteer Services. In 1995, they moved to Olathe, Kan., where her husband, two children, a granddaughter, and a great-granddaughter continue to live.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur, of Olathe, Kan.; and their four children, Norman (Cathy) Franker of Olathe, David (Karen) Franker of Madison, Wis., Kathy (Ted) McIntosh of Olathe, and Mark (Kelly) Franker of Baltimore, Md. She was loved dearly and will be missed deeply by her 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Juanita Kounkel and Delores Kingebiel.

Memorials can be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church in Olathe.
