Kristi K. Turman, 53, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012, at a local hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hinton United Methodist Church in Hinton, Iowa, with the Rev. Kolleen Queener officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Kristi was born on Nov. 17, 1958, in Jacksonville, Fla., the daughter of Robert and Donna (Byers) Taylor. Her father was in the U.S. Coast Guard, and the family went with him when he was stationed in Greece and New York. They settled in Henderson, Iowa, to be close to family. Kristi graduated from Nishna Valley High School in 1977. She then went to Western Iowa Tech Community College and graduated as a registered nurse in 1979.

She was married in February 1980 to David Turman and resided in Hinton for 13 years. They later divorced. She worked as a nurse at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center and the Home Health division until 2002, when she moved to Eagle, Neb. She then worked for Bryan Home Health and Tabitha Home Health centers in Lincoln, Neb. During 2009, she moved back to Sioux City to be closer to her kids.

Kristi enjoyed being with her family. She was always involved in her children's activities and enjoyed watching them play sports. She was an avid reader and loved camping and the outdoors. She loved animals and always had many pets. She was a caring and compassionate person and would do anything for her friends and family.

Kristi is survived by two sons, Matt Turman of Sioux City and Marcus Turman of Hinton; two daughters, Molly Turman of Sioux City and Melissa Turman and her fiance, Travis Anderson of Le Mars, Iowa; one sister, Carol Martin of Eagle, Neb.; a brother-in-law, Randy Martin; other relatives; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Robert; and maternal grandparents.
