Dennis Alan Behrens, 44, of Sioux City was suddenly lifted up to our Lord on Thursday, March 8, 2012. Those he left behind mourn his passing, but he is now a member of the eternal Church Triumphant.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery at Rock Branch, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Kenny Hsu officiating, all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Dennis was born on Aug. 23, 1967, in Sioux City. He was the son of Dale Franklin and Rosella Mae (Schumann) Behrens. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from North High in 1985. Dennis was a courier and began working at Northwestern National Bank. He then worked for Norwest Bank and Wells Fargo Bank and was presently employed at Liberty National Bank.

Dennis was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, cousin, coworker and friend. He enjoyed NASCAR and dirt car racing, family dinners and time, family games like marbles, Sequence and cards. He missed his calling as a meteorologist, as he was very interested in, and enjoyed learning about all aspects of the weather and was our resource for any up-to-date information whenever we needed. He deeply loved his Lord, and Christian music was a joy for him and kept him uplifted.

Dennis was baptized, confirmed and a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sioux City.

He is survived by his loving mother, Rosella Dage Behrens of Sioux City; his sisters, Jeanine Simmons of Omaha, JoAnn and Randy Borchers of Omaha, and Janice and Rich Meek of Sioux City; his brother, Duane and Margaret Behrens of Sioux City; along with nieces and nephews, Danica and Nicole Simmons, Nathan and Brianna Weise, Christopher, Ashley and Shanna Meek and Noah and Ethan Behrens. There are also several great nieces and great nephews who will all miss their Uncle Dennis deeply.

He was preceded in death by his father.
