Leo L. Phillips, 90, of Sioux City died Friday, March 30, 2012, at a Sioux City nursing home.

Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Tom LoVan of Morningside Lutheran Church will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Leo was born on March 31, 1921, in Sioux City, the son of Anthony and Anna (Yudall) Phillips. He was raised in Sioux City and attended East High School. He joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II.

He married Rita Boulden in Sioux City. She died in 1996. Leo was a cattle buyer at the Sioux City Stockyards. He worked for several commission firms at the yards, including B J Noonan and Rosenstock & Co. After he left the yards, he went to work at First National Bank in the maintenance department.

He was former member of Morningside Lutheran Church. He loved working with cars and visiting with friends.

He is survived by a daughter and her husband, Cheryl and Joel Otto of Bronson, Iowa; three grandchildren, Nick and Megan Peck, Tyler Peck, Christy O'Connor; and four great-grandchildren, Aubree Peck, Bentley and Brody Williams, and Kendall Zachau.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two daughters, Karen Phillips, and Kathy Jordan; a son, Butch Jordan; and his sister, Bernice Temoshek.
