Barbara F. Cooper, 73, of Salix died Friday, March 30, 2012, at a local hospital in Sioux City.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Friendship Community Church, 305 Sergeant Square Drive in Sergeant Bluff. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Barbara was born on Aug. 30, 1938, in Sioux City, the daughter of Edgar and Floy (Rounds) Higman. She attended Leeds High School. Barbara was married to Bill Rasmussen. They later divorced. Barbara was a graduate of the beauty college in Sioux City.

On March 1, 1983, Barbara was married to Leo Cooper. They made their home in Luton, Iowa. Barbara worked at the Boulevard Grocery Store until 1981, then Aratex, before working for MCI in Sergeant Bluff. She retired in 2000.

Barbara enjoyed going on fishing and boating trips with her family. She took great care of her flowers and her puppy, Sam.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Leo; two sons, Todd Cooper and his wife, Melanie of Sergeant Bluff, and Mark Rasmussen and his wife, Claudia of Akron; two daughters, Tracie and her husband, David Bernhard of Las Vegas, Nev., and Tamara and her husband, Donnie Christensen of Moville, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her special grandson, Keith Rasmussen; and special niece, Amy Higman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Harley Higman; an infant sister, Lynne Anne Higman; and one son, Brian Rasmussen.
