Bernard F. Ginsbach, 101, of Sioux City passed away May 31, 2012, at a local care facility.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Dan Guenther officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Bernard was born on Sept. 18, 1910, in Kingsley, Iowa, to Michael and Adeline (Steffen) Ginsbach. He later attended school in Elkhorn Township. In 1928, the family moved from rural Kingsley to a farm near Del Rapids, S.D. Bernard worked as a hired hand for various farmers until 1934. He then moved back to Washta, Iowa, and worked for several area farmers.

He moved to Sioux City, and in 1941, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served honorably and was discharged in 1945. Following his discharge from the service, he returned to Sioux City in 1945, and began his employment as a truck driver for Galinsky Brothers until 1961. He then began working at the Harvester Truck Garage as a mechanic until 1963. He later went to work at Roberts Dairy as a truck mechanic until his retirement in 1975.

He married Donabelle Buser at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Neptune, Iowa. They resided in Sioux City.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sioux City. He was also a member of the Teamsters and the American Legion. Bernard enjoyed tinkering, doing lawn care, traveling and eating out.

Survivors include his wife, Donabelle; a son, Jerome "Jerry" and Rhonda Ginsbach of Defiance, Iowa; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister-in-law, Agnes Ginsbach; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Laurence, Charles, Tony and Martin Ginsbach; and two sisters, Adlbert Ginsbach and Mary Agnes Gearets.
