Ronald L. Stieneke, 89, of Sioux City passed away Monday, July 11, 2011 at a Sioux City hospital due to complications from multiple myeloma.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Tri-State Christian Church in South Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military graveside services provided by the U.S. Army. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to time of service. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service. Ron was born on April 13, 1922 in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Jesse and Margaret (Riffenberger) Stieneke. He graduated from the Aurelia High School in 1940. During 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Louisiana during World War II.

Ron was united in marriage to Enola "Nolie" Ducommun in 1943. Ron earned his Journeyman's Certificate in 1950. He worked for Johnson Construction for 28 years, then with Larry Book for five years. When Ron retired, he would still do woodworking projects of all kinds. He enjoyed building and collecting clocks, and also making flag cases for veteran's burial flags.

Ron made many bus trips, and had traveled to every state except Hawaii. He was a donor to the Sioux City Blood Bank for many years. Ron was a member of the Tri-State Christian Church and also the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners.

Ron is survived by his wife, Enola "Nolie"; his son, Jerry Stieneke and his wife, Pam of Sioux City; his daughter, Jackie Eakin of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; his grandchildren, Jared Rimmer, Jason Rimer, Peggy Mette and Penny Stieneke; and his great-grandchildren. Hayden, and Hannah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and six brothers, Paul, Kenneth, Wayne, Alvie, Byrl and Carroll Stieneke.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Tri-State Christian Church in Ron's memory.
