April 21, 2012Allen L. Pry, 69, of Lawton died Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at his residence.
Services will be 5 p.m. today at Friendship Community Church in Sergeant Bluff, with the Rev. Verlyn Schaap officiating. Graveside services will 1 p.m. Monday in Graceland Park Cemetery, Sioux City, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Navy. Visitation with the family will be 3 p.m. until service time today at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.
Allen was born on Dec. 11, 1942, in Sioux City, the son of Lee and Betty (Bruner) Pry. Allen enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1960 to 1963.
Allen was married to Mary Benson in March 1963. He worked in maintenance at Tyson Foods from 1971 until his retirement in October 2005 as the maintenance superintendent.
Allen enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family and his grandchildren. He loved being outdoors on his acreage and running his bobcat.
Allen is survived by his two sons, Glenn Pry and his wife, Staci of Lawton, and Wes Pry of Sioux City; his daughter, Mariellen Pry and her fiance, Mike Paulsen of Hornick, Iowa; seven grandchildren; his mother, Betty Pry of Correctionville, Iowa; five brothers, Daniel Pry (Becky) of Austin, Texas, Bill Pry of Oklahoma City, Okla., Roger Pry (Melinda) of Bronson, Iowa, Keith Pry (Taunia) of Correctionville, and Kelly Pry (Jenice) of Sergeant Bluff; four sisters, Joann Peters (Gary Keller) of Omaha, Susan Verzani (Jim) of Seminole, Fla., Deanna Struck (Mark) of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Roxanne Augeri (Chris) Omaha; other relatives; and many friends.
Allen was preceded in death by his wife, Mary in 2004; his son, Kevin Pry in 1973; his father, Lee Pry; a brother, Kenneth Pry; and an infant sister, Louella Pry.
