Gary F. Heck, 69, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 19, 2012, at his residence.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Gary was born Aug. 7, 1942, in Homer, Neb., to Kenneth and Rubie (Deist) Heck. He grew up in Homer, and moved to Kingsley, Iowa, where he graduated from Kingsley High School in 1960, and was class president.

Gary worked for Jolly Time Popcorn and Sioux Tools.

He enjoyed restoring classic cars, fishing, camping and dancing. He liked to socialize and drink coffee with his friends. Gary was outgoing and well liked. He did things his way and enjoyed his retirement.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheri Gray of Sioux City; a son, Curt Heck and his wife, Julie of Sioux City; an adopted son, Matt Heck; a stepson, Brian Deal of North Carolina; a stepdaughter, Heather Deal; one brother, Larry Heck of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Mike Heck and his wife, Anabel, Austin Heck, Kellie and John Gray; and a great-granddaughter, Julieana Heck.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jack.
