Eva Elvina Frazier, 95, of Sioux City went to join the Lord on Saturday, March 10, 2012.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Martha Anderson officiating. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Eva was born Oct. 17, 1916, in Richland, S.D. She was raised in rural Richland. She attended Mt. Hope Country School and graduated from Akron (Iowa) High School. After high school, she drove to California with a family who employed her. She enrolled at the Swedish Cooking Institute and became a private cook for families.

She moved back to Akron, where she married John Ammon Frazier on Nov. 24, 1938, in the J. Zetterquist Home in Akron. After their marriage, the family farmed in the Hawarden area until they moved to Omaha in 1940 and to Sioux City in 1941. John died June 17, 2001, in Sioux City.

Eva was a longtime member of Rustin Avenue United Methodist Church and had served on various church committees. She was past president of the PTA and former member of Women of the Moose. She had served as an officer of the Coles Addition Association. She worked at the Franklin Elementary School. She had a cake decorating business in her home.

Eva took great pride in her appearance and looked forward to having her hair fixed every week. While her children were growing up she was active in their lives, whether it was being active in the Boy and Girl Scouts or opening her house to the children of the neighborhood. She was a sweet and kind person and never said a harsh word about anybody.

Survivors include her children, Beverly (Bruce) Kolbe of Sioux City, Marcella Frazier of Sioux City, Charles (Karen) Frazier of Waverly, Iowa, and John Jr. (Debbie) Frazier of Sergeant Bluff; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and her special nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and four sisters, Ruth Hansen, Elsie Burnight, Rose Johnson and Laura Callaghan.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

The family expresses a special thanks to the St. Luke's nursing staff for Eva's care.
