John A. Haller, 93, of Sioux City passed away Monday, March 12, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at Church of the Nativity, with the Rev. Steven McLoud officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Army Reserves. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Online condolences may be posted at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

John was born Aug. 25, 1918, in Sioux City to John and Sarah (Halverson) Haller in Sioux City. He graduated from Central High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. When he returned home, he married Mary Lou Whitfield in 1948 in Sioux City. She preceded him in death in 1985. He married Marilyn (Clark) Weibel on Oct. 28, 1989, at Church of the Nativity.

John owned and operated Haller Tire Repair Shop for many years. He loved listening to music and even more so, dancing to it. He was a member of the American Legion, Church of the Nativity and lifetime member of the Senior Center.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Haller of Sioux City; a brother, Tom (Mary Sue) Haller of Ames, Iowa; three sisters, Pauline Meloy of Sioux City, Sally (Stanley) Oswald of Cleghorn, Iowa, and Phyllis (Wally) Bergstrom of Onawa, Iowa; and extended family, Rebecca O'Hearn, Christi A. Allen, Amy Sandman, Owen Weibel and Lisa Hanus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Lou; and three infant sons.

Memorials may be directed to the Senior Center of Siouxland or a charity of the donor's choice.
