Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Tess Panamarow officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to time of service Thursday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Marge was born on Jan. 31, 1941, in Yankton, S.D., the daughter of Earl and Alpha (Osborn) Barto.

Marge was married to Richard Campbell from 1961 to 1982. They had one daughter, Elizabeth. She was later married to Thomas Stevens from 1984 to 1989.

Marge worked at Younker's Advertising from 1963 until leaving in 1976. Her last year was as their advertising director. During 1976, she started working for the Sioux City Community Schools, first at West Junior and later at West Middle as secretary until her retirement in 2005. Marge also worked at the Singing Hill’s Wal-Mart until the time of her death.

She was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Marge was a writer. She received second place in a national contest for a Western novel she wrote. Marge was also a professional artist and a semi professional soloist. Her love of animals made her an advocate involved in the rescue of abandon animals in the area.

Marge is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann (Sue) Campbell Huisman; and her two grandsons, Richard “Mikey” Michael Campbell Huisman and David "D.J." Joseph Campbell Huisman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Alpha Barto; her uncle, Raymond Barto; an aunt, Lucille Barto; her grandmother, Anna Osborn; her ex-husband, Richard Campbell, her special friend.

The family would like to give special thanks to three special people in Marge's life, her advocate and dear friend, Dee Sturgeon, Linda Herfel and the Rev. Tess Panamarow.

Memorials may be directed to the family or Immanuel Lutheran Church’s Good Samaritan Fund.
