Timothy R. "Tim" Saltzman, 43, of Kearney, Neb., formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, June 25, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kearney. The Rev. Duane Duley will officiate. Burial will be in Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney. Visitation will resume one hour prior to service Friday at the church. He was born on Feb. 10, 1969, in Sioux City, to Thomas and Patricia (McLarty) Saltzman, Sr. He grew up in South Sioux City and graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1987. While in high school, he participated in football and wrestling. He attended Kearney State College, where he was on the wrestling team and a member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity.

During college, he began work at Baldwin Manufacturing, where he worked until his death and was currently the quality assurance coordinator.

On Feb. 23, 1993, he married Brenda Hawkins at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kearney. He also worked part time at Thrifty Car Rental in Kearney.

He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and enjoyed stock car racing, fishing and playing with his kids. He and his wife were foster parents for seven years.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Brenda Saltzman of Kearney; daughters, Breanna Saltzman of Kearney, and Jessica Saltzman of Kearney; sons, Jacob Saltzman of Kearney, and Ryan Wren of Fort Collins, Colo.; his mother, Pat Saltzman of North Sioux City; brother, Tom Saltzman Jr. and friend, Brandy Rysavy of South Sioux City; sisters, Tammy and husband, Mike Steemken of North Sioux City, and Tanya Saltzman of Kearney; his mother and father-in-law, Ivan and Joyce Hawkins of Pleasanton, Neb.; brother-in-law, Tye Hawkins of Holdrege, Neb.; sister-in-law,Christal and husband, Bill Holt of St. Paul, Neb.; and nieces and nephews, Mikayla and Isaiah Saltzman, Evan and Emily Steemken, Addison Tracy, and Derek and Brittany Holt.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Memorials are suggested to the family for designation at a later date.
