Lois K. Porter, 92, of Holstein, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Good Samaritan Care Center in Holstein.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff, with the Rev. Martha Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Holstein Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Online condolences for the family may be made to www.waterburyfuneralserviceinc.com.

Lois was born Aug. 3, 1919 in Holstein, the daughter of Charles and Amelia Lingle. She lived her early years in the Holstein area.

She was united in marriage to Gaylen Johnson on April 14, 1937, and this union was blessed with two children, Eugene Sr. and Karen. The family moved to Sioux City in 1956. Gaylen passed away in 1974. She then married Clarence "Bub" Porter in 1976, and the family grew with the addition of Bub's four daughters, Sally, Susan, Sandy and Pam. Clarence died in 2006.

Lois worked as a hostess at the Palmer House for several years, and was very involved the Shrine with both of her husbands. She loved working in her yard.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Eugene Johnson Jr, Jeanne, Linda, Steve, Jeff and Debbie; and her four stepdaughters, Sally, Susan, Sandy and Pam.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her son, Eugene Johnson Sr.; and her daughter, Karen Holmes
