April 08, 2012Gerald Dean Davis, 83, formerly of Sioux City, died Friday, March 16, 2012, in Sutherland, Ore.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sunset Cemetery, Washta, Iowa, with the Rev. David Koehler officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City.
Gerald was born on Feb. 1, 1929, to Jack and Ila (Lewis) Davis, in Correctionville, Iowa. He moved to Sioux City as a child. After his graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed on the USS Forrestal from 1946 to 1969. After he retired, he worked at the test site in Las Vegas, Nev. until 1989. He retired completely in 1989 and moved to Sutherland, Ore.
He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Survivors include his sister, Alyce and Harold Leopold of Sioux City; two half brothers, Allen and Brita Greenough of Ankeny, Iowa, and Darrell and Barb Greenough of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, Charles Davis.
