Phillip M. Stevens, 65, of Sioux City died Monday, July 2, 2012, at a local care facility following a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Thomas Orthodox Church, with the Rev. Lucas Rice officiating. Burial will be in St. Thomas Orthodox Cemetery, Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a Trisagion service at 7 p.m., all at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Phil was born on June 18, 1947, in Sioux City, the son of Thomas and Miriam (Abdouch) Stevens. Phil grew up in Sioux City and attended Longfellow Grade School and East Middle School. He graduated from East High School.

Phil married Judy Goodwin on May 11, 1974, in Sioux City. He worked for Iowa Leather Company, Pioneer Transfer and the Sioux City Community School District for many years.

He was a member of St. Thomas Orthodox Church. He had been a member of Morningside Country Club, Whispering Creek Golf Course and the Sioux City Boat Club. He was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Survivors include his wife, Judy of Sioux City; three sons, Joshua Stevens of Sioux City, Jeremy Stevens and his wife, Kate of Naperville, Ill., and Jeffrey Stevens and his wife, Nicole of Sioux City; a brother, Dick Stevens and his wife, Sue of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Arianna, Jason and Sarah; a mother-in-law, Dorothy Goodwin; sisters-in-law, Joyce (Frank) Cloudas, and Kathy Goodwin; several nieces and nephews; and several godchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, William Goodwin Sr.; a brother-in-law, William Goodwin Jr.; and a son, Jason.

Pallbearers will be Joshua, Jeremy, Jeffrey, Rick, and Rob Stevens, Troy Martin, Brent Scheideman, and Todd Goodwin.

A memorial will be established in his name.
