The Rev. Ralph W. Brink, 97, formerly of Sioux City, passed away on June 11, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nev., under hospice care, with family at his side.

Born in Minneapolis, he graduated from Baylor University in Waco , Texas and Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Chicago. Additional graduate studies were taken at the Iliff School of Theology in Denver. After pastorates in Roodhouse, Ill. and First Baptist Church in Moline,Ill., he was named minister of First Baptist Church in Sioux City in 1952, where he served until 1966. He was then named campus minister and associate professor of religion at Morningside College until 1978, when he returned to First Baptist Church as interim pastor until his retirement in 1981.

At Morningside College, he taught courses in world religions, Christian thought, current perspectives in religion and myths of modern man.

His wife Fern preceded him in death in 1984. In 1986, he and his wife Gertrude retired to Green Valley, Ariz., followed by a move to Las Vegas in 2007. She preceded him in death earlier this year.

He served as president of the Illinois Baptist Ministers Council and was chairman of the Pastoral Relations Committee of the Illinois Baptist Convention. He was a member of the Sioux City Interprofessional Institute and served on the board of directors of the Sioux City Rotary Club. He was also a member of the Adult Education Advisory Board, the board of directors of the Siouxland Rehabilitation Center and served as president of the Sioux City Ministerium in addition to other local and civic groups.

He is survived by their daughter, Carol Brink (Forret) of Las Vegas; a brother; and two sisters.
