Virginia M. Jorgensen, 85, of Sergeant Bluff died Jan. 5, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Sergeant Bluff, with the Rev. Mark Groves of New Life Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Virginia was born Feb. 16, 1926, in Sioux City, to Irving and Glaydes (Cook) Knudson. She graduated from Sioux City East High in 1944.

She married Dale Jorgensen on April 23, 1947, in Sioux City at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1997. Virginia was employed at Denning Florist as a designer.

She was a past member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and was a member of New Life Lutheran Church in Sergeant Bluff. In her free time, Virginia loved to play Bridge, was very active in the churches, where she was a member of the sewing circle and various women's circles. She was also very active with East High class reunions which held monthly meetings. She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandkids and great-grandkids.

Survivors include four sons, Larry and his wife, Chris, Leonard and his wife, Pat, Loren and his wife, Inez and Lane and his wife, Cindy, all of Sergeant Bluff; 13 grandchildren, Kari and her husband, Fidell Wadsworth III of Sioux City, Kim and her husband, Kirk Krantz of Ames, Iowa, Greg Jorgensen of Sergeant Bluff, Chad Jorgensen and his wife, Katie of Grimes, Iowa, Craig and his wife, Jeanie of Rockford, Ill., Cheri and her husband, Jason Gehling of Omaha, Nick and his wife, Mara of Sergeant Bluff, Eric and his wife, Britnee of Norwalk, Iowa, Karla Jorgensen of Denver, Colo., Kayla Jorgensen of Denver, Philip Jorgensen of Onawa, Iowa, Ryan and his wife, Jen of Salix, Iowa, and Jennifer Jorgensen of Onawa; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Iva Rogers of Phoenix, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and one son, Lance.
