Opal R. Grote, 66, of Sioux City, beloved mom, grandma, sister, aunt and friend passed away suddenly Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, after a lengthy hospital stay and a brief stay at Casa de Paz Health Care Center.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Landmark Baptist Church, 917 Court St., with the Rev. Solis officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Opal Rozelle was born Nov. 8, 1945, in Webster City, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Opal Estelle (Carlson) Reinhardt.

She married William Grote on Feb. 17, 1972. He died on Oct. 9, 1998.

Opal was active in church. She enjoyed watching television, listening to Christian music, doing crafts and watching her grandchildren play and grow. She was a hard worker and she liked to help other people.

Opal will be dearly remembered by her children, Lynette Loucks and her husband, Mark of Sioux City, Lanelle McAllister and her husband, Dan of Sioux Falls, S.D., Paul Grote of Denison, Iowa, and Amanda Young and her husband, Dennis of Allen, Neb.; five grandchildren who will dearly miss Grandma, Molly, Anna, Connor, Gailbriaelle, and Marcelia; her sisters, Mary Olson and Christine DiRito, both of Texas, and Norma Rudd of Sioux City, who was like a sister; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; a sister; and three nieces.

A memorial had been established in Opal's name and donations may be sent to the family in care of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
