William N. Ford 1930-2012

William N. Ford, 81, of San Diego, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, died peacefully Feb. 1, 2012.

Bill was born on Feb. 26, 1930, to Burton and Margaret Ford and, with his brother, Alvin, was raised in Sioux City. He attended Shattuck Military School and Dartmouth College (class of 1952).

He married Patricia Stone on Dec. 20, 1953. He and Patti had three daughters. Patti preceded Bill in death on Feb. 6, 1990. Mr. Ford served 20 years in the U.S. Naval Reserve and his principal career was as a Realtor from 1962 to 1993.

While in Sioux City, Bill was an active communicant at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, a Mason and, until he retired to San Diego, a faithful member of the Shrine Chanters. He also enjoyed participation in many civic organizations.

Bill is survived by his brother, Alvin of Sioux City; his three daughters, Kathy Ford of Tacoma, Wash., Susan Kane and her husband, Kerry of Poway, Calif., and Francy Schafer and her husband, William James of Ft. Scott, Kan.; three loving granddaughters, Courtney, Patricia and Theresa; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and their families.
