SIOUX CITY -- Raymond Patrick Pierre, 81, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at his home after a short illness.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Church of The Nativity, with the Rev. Steven McLoud officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a rosary at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Raymond was born Dec. 3, 1929, in Hawarden, Iowa, the son of John and Amelia (Lechtenberg) Pierre. He grew up in Kingsley, Iowa, and graduated from Kingsley High School in 1947. On June 5, 1960, he married Cecilia Tokarczyk at St. Francis Catholic Church in Sioux City.

Ray worked for Marx Truck Trailer Sales until his retirement in 1992. He loved spending time with his family. Ray especially enjoyed his grandkids and attending their sport and school activities. He was a member of Church of The Nativity.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Cecelia; two daughters and their husbands, Sandi and Bob Cannon of Sioux City and Kathy and Dave Sandoz of Sergeant Bluff; five grandchildren, Rob, Chris and Cassie Cannon and Jacob and Melissa Sandoz; two sisters, Darlene Stusse and Marcele Newman, both of Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Don; and brothers-in-laws, Harry Newman and Bob Stusse.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Sandoz, Chris, Rob and Bob Cannon and Nick, Don, Ron and Randy Stusse
