SIOUX CITY -- Grace E. Hansen, 91, of Sioux City went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at her son's residence after a long illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Calvary Lutheran Church, with the Rev. James Travis officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Grace was born April 19, 1920, in Sioux City, the daughter of Clyde and Lina (Grout) Davis.

She married Lou Hansen on April 6, 1940, in South Sioux City. Grace lived in Sioux City and Kansas City, Mo., before moving to Seattle, Wash. While her husband was overseas during World War II, she worked at Boeing Company as a riveter supporting the U.S. in the war effort. She was later recognized by the "Rosie the Riveter" national organization for her work. After the war, they returned to Sioux City, living in the Leeds area since 1946. Grace worked at Wags Hut and Younkers Department Store.

She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church for over 60 years. She was very devoted to the church and served on various circles and committees. She also volunteered at the Soup Kitchen.

Grace was renowned for her Sunday chicken dinners and for always having homemade "goodies" for anyone who stopped by, especially her grandchildren. She loved life and her joy was giving of herself. She instilled a strong Christian faith in her children. She loved playing cards and dice, going for walks and traveling, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with family.

Survivors include her children, Barbara Wilder of Sioux City, Lou Hansen and his wife Janice of Sioux City, Ron Hansen and his wife Lynette of Martinsburg, W.Va., David Hansen and his wife Cindy of St. George, Utah, Julie Sprecher of Sioux Falls, S.D., Larry Hansen of Heber City, Utah, and Michael Hansen and his wife Michelle of Sioux City; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and two sisters. On March 1, 1992, she lost her husband of 52 years, Lou Hansen, and a month later, in April, she lost her daughter, Shirley Frisbie.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Steve Frisbie, Richard Hansen, Tim DeWolf, Ryan Hansen, Kevin Sprecher, John Hansen and Zack Hansen. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric DeWolf, Jeremy Hansen, Matt Hansen, David Frisbie and Tony Hansen.

Memorials may be made in Grace's name to Calvary Lutheran Church.

She was loved by all and the best grandma ever. Tonight she walks with the angels.
