CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa -- Nancy Lynn Edwards, 54, of Correctionville passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012 at her Correctionville residence.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace United Methodist Church of Correctionville, with the Rev. Sheryl K. Ashley officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Correctionville Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 8 p.m., at Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Correctionville.

Nancy Lynn (Urban) Edwards was born on May 26, 1957 to Marion "Toby" and Myrna Urban in Primghar, Iowa. She attended Cherokee Community Schools. She met her soul mate and love of her life Leroy Edwards in the summer of 1980. They were married May 23, 1981 in Correctionville. The pathway of life produced five beautiful children, loved and cherished by Nancy. The tree of life branched out, producing nine grandchildren and one on the way thus far.

While raising her children, Nancy was strongly devoted to leading songs at the Church of Christ. Her voice also led her to Nashville, where she graced the same stage as her idol, Patsy Cline at the original Grand Ole Opry, at the Rymon Auditorium. While in Nashville she recorded in a studio with Buck Jarrell, singing through the same microphone as Roy Orbison did when he recorded "Pretty Woman." That led her to singing with country stars, Doug Stone and Joe Diffie at the Anthon Summer Festival. She also sang at many weddings, funerals and special events. Her singing career opened the door for her performance in the Broadway Musical, "Pump Boys and Dinettes" at the Grand Meadow Heritage Festival.

You could often find Nancy outside planting flowers, blowing bubbles with her grandchildren while chasing butterflies, smiling and laughing. She spent a lot of time in the kitchen preparing homemade comfort food for her ever-growing family. She always said "the bigger the mess the better the meal." The highlight of her cooking career was being able to cook for the entire football team during their "spirit suppers." Some of her favorite pastimes were coloring and reading to her grandchildren as well as passing on the gift of music. She was well known in the local area as the singing waitress at the Fireside. While working there, she was able to give four of her five children the opportunity to follow in her footsteps. She then became employed at the Holiday Inn. One of her highlights working there was singing the National Anthem at a banquet attended by 90 senators and congressmen.

Those left to cherish and treasure her memory are her loving soul mate of more than 30 years, Leroy; her daughter, Lindsay Michelle (Donny) and their children, Harmony Lynn, Kaya May, Aydan Jay, Austin Michael, Rachel Jean and Aaron Donald; her son, Gregory Lee (Sarah) and their children, Trinity Joy, Tanner James and Nativity Lee; her son, Jonathan Leroy (Katie), and their children, Carson Keith, MaKinlee Jean and a blessing on the way; her daughter, Hope Olivia Pearl and her child Warren Peace Matthew and their dog, Shadow; and her daughter, Angela Shalom (Devon) and their dog Malibu; brothers, Danny, Larry and Tom (Anita) Florke; sisters, Linda Enright and Barbara (Chris) Webb; any many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ricky Joe; mother-in-law, Marcella; niece, Sherri Ann; sister-in-law, Shirley; brother-in-law, Tom Enright; uncle, Ray Thomas and cousin, Corey Thomas.
