SIOUX CITY -- Lana Ann Olson, 66, of Sioux City died Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Casa De Paz Nursing Home in Sioux City.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, with Karl Luther officiating. Interment will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.christysmith.com.

Lana was born Dec. 2, 1945 in Bloomfield, Neb., to Oscar and Eva (Sumner) Brunke. She grew up near Bloomfield and attended school there until she was 10 years old, when the family moved to Yankton, S.D. She graduated from Yankton High School in 1964. Lana went on to Nettleton Business Training School for a year.

She married Elden W. Olson on Feb. 11, 1967 at Gayville, S.D. The couple made Sioux City their home and raised two children. Lana worked for Home Federal Savings and Loan for several years before going to work at General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC) for 10 years and then part-time for another 10 years. When her children were older, she then worked at the Family Christian Store on Hamilton Boulevard until 2003, when she retired.

She was active in her Baptist faith, where she taught Sunday school and directed vacation bible school, sang in the choir and was a member of AWANA.

Surviving are her husband, Elden W. Olson; two daughters, Jil and Jason Garner of Topeka, Kan., and Amy and Matt Wieber of St. Cloud, Minn.; three grandchildren, Alex Garner, Jack Wieber and Evelyn Wieber; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Keith Brunke and Duane Brunke; and two sisters, Myrna Jensen and Marilyn Andersen.
