SIOUX CITY | Thomas J. Brennan, 64, of Sioux City died Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Countryside Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Revs. Gerald Feierfeil, cousin of the deceased, and Daniel Guenther co-celebrating. Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a parish vigil service will be said at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Tom was born on Sept. 4, 1947, in Sioux City. He was the son of Philip and Dorothy (DeRungs) Brennan. He was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. He attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and graduated from Heelan High School in 1965. He then attended Briar Cliff College. Tom worked with his dad in the family business, Sedgwick Brennan Abstract Company, starting in high school. He went to work full time in the summer of 1965. He took ownership of the business and was still operating it at the time of his death.

Tom was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and had served as a church director for 27 years. He was also a member of the Calvary Cemetery Board of Directors for the past 27 years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 743. He had belonged to the Jaycees and was currently a member of the Sioux City Chamber of Commerce. Tom belonged to the Sertoma Club and was a member of the Iowa and the American Land Title Association. He enjoyed collecting and restoring cars, traveling, studying architecture and doing carpentry.

He is survived by two aunts, Mary Ronk of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Dorothy DeRungs of Madison, Wis.; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
