SIOUX CITY | Marianne Garner, 77, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012, at her residence.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Tess Panamarow officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service Wednesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Marianne, the daughter of Edwin and Eunice (Short) Peterson, was born on March 3, 1935 in Yutan, Neb.

She married Robert Dean Garner on Oct. 22, 1951, in Papillion, Neb. Robert passed away on March 31, 2002. Marianne and Robert made their home on a turkey farm in Lawton, Iowa for 19 years until moving to their west side Sioux City home, where they lived for 38 years. She worked for K-Mart in automotive, Jr. League Discovery Shop, Gateway, and Goodwill Services on West Fourth.

Marianne enjoyed camping, gardening, cooking and being one of the best mothers. Holidays were always special. She thoroughly enjoyed a full house of family and friends and of course a game of Polish Poker, which were never boring.

Marianne is survived by three sons, Robert Garner, Mark (Twila) Garner, and Brian (Diane) Garner, all of Sioux City; three daughters, Marie (Jack) Huseman of Sioux City, Linda (Bruce) Anders of Sioux City, and Debbie and her significant other, Jeane of Greeley, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; and one son, Jeff.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the Hospice of Siouxland for their excellent care given to Marianne.
