SIOUX CITY | Dale L. “Dutch” Kemp, 87, of Sioux City passed away Monday, May 14, 2012, at a local hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Don Craig officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be posted online at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Dale was born on April 4, 1925, in Trenton, Neb., the son of Albert and Emma (Brown) Kemp. He grew up in Trenton and graduated from high school. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

On May 18, 1947, he married Helen R. Porter in Trenton. She died on Aug. 9, 2000, in Sioux City. Dale worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for many years and retired in 1990.

He enjoyed traveling with his wife, playing cards, trap shooting and fishing. He was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church.

Survivors in a son, Ronald Kemp of New Brighton, Minn.; a son-in-law, Charlie Rios of St. Paul, Minn.; six grandchildren, Lisa Schuller, Heather Lain, Chuck (Melony) Rios, Mike (Kara) Rios, Mark (Anne) Rios and Kailee Kemp; and nine great-grandchildren and another on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two daughters, Nancy Kemp and Debra Rios; a brother, Cloyde Kemp; and a sister, Iona Flanders.

Memorials may be made in his name to Central Baptist Church.
