SIOUX CITY -- Frances M. Jeffres, 94, of Hermitage, Tenn., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012, in Springfield, Tenn.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Kenny Hsu officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to service time Tuesday.

A celebration of life service will be held later this month at the United Methodist Church in Hermitage for friends and family there.

Frances, the youngest of 10 children of Otto and Mary (Binnebose) Lembcke, was born on Nov. 12, 1917, in Plymouth County, Iowa. She received her education in the Hinton Schools.

Frances married Lauren Jeffres on Nov. 2, 1947, in Hinton, Iowa. They farmed in rural Woodbury County for many years until they moved to Sioux City, where she worked at St. Luke's Hospital. After her retirement there, she was active for several years with the Disabled American Veteran Auxiliary, working as a volunteer at their store.

She moved in 2000 to Tennessee to be close to family, where she attended Hermitage United Methodist Church regularly and indulged as often as possible in her favorite occupation, cooking big dinners for the family.

She was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sioux City.

Frances is survived by her son, David and his wife, Vicki, of Hermitage, Tenn.; her granddaughters, Samantha Jeffres and Jacee (Jonathan) Preston; and her great-granddaughter, Gillian, all of Hermitage.

She was preceded in death by her parents; all her brothers and sisters; and husband, Lauren, who died in 1989.
