May 17, 2012SIOUX CITY | Anthony Joseph Yadelis, of Hesperia, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, died April 19, 2012 in Barstow, Calif. after a long illness.
Private services were held in Golden, Colo.
Mr. Yadelis was born on April 19, 1918, in Sioux City, as Anthony Joseph Yodelis. His name was changed due to a typographical error when he received his Social Security Identification Card. He was the first-born son of Joseph and Anna Yodelis, immigrants from Lithuania. Anthony spent his childhood in Iowa and the majority of his adult life in California. Mr. Yadelis served in the Navy during World War II.
Survivors include four grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
His daughter, Kathleen Castro; and his son, Dennis Hughey preceded Mr. Yadelis in death.
