SIOUX CITY -- Patricia E. "Patty" Coney, 70, of Sioux City passed away Friday, July 8, 2011 at a local hospital.

A prayer service will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday at Waterbury Funeral Service, with the Rev. Paul Helmer officiating. Visitation with the family present will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.waterburyfuneralserviceinc.com.

Patty was born on July 22, 1940, in Sioux City, the daughter of James and Frances (Snyder) Freeman. She graduated in 1959 from Central High School in Sioux City.

Patty was united in marriage to Robert J. Coney on Feb. 11, 1961, in Pipestone, Minn. She worked for Watson Brothers Transportation. During the late 1970s, she was with the women's auxiliary helping to operate the gift shop at the Marian Health Center.

Patty enjoyed watching her sons driving their race cars and the time she spent with her grandchildren. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church.

Patty is survived by her husband, Robert; four sons, Bob Jr. and his wife, Julie, Jim and Douglas, all of Sioux City, and John and his wife, Chris of Carlisle, Iowa; four brothers, Jim Freeman of Oklahoma, Bob Freeman of Schaller, Iowa, Mike Freeman of Missouri, and Billy Freeman of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Erin, Dylan, Bobby and Abby; and her longtime friend, Maureen Norton of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
