8 July 2011SIOUX CITY -- Kenneth Van Meter, 68, of Nocona, Texas, formerly of Sioux City, passed away June 24, 2011, in Nocona.
Private family services will be at a later date.
Ken was born Oct. 12, 1942, in Sioux City, the son of the late Leroy Paul and Vonda Doris (Hughes) Van Meter.
He married Ora Dungan on Aug. 1, 1964, in Craig, Colo. Kenneth worked as a telephone equipment technician.
He served in the U.S. Navy. He was commander of the American Legion Post in Nocona. He also was a member of the Nocona Hills Community Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ora Van Meter of Nocona; a son, Orrie Van Meter of Nocona; brothers, Richard Van Meter of Nocona, Donald Van Meter of Sioux City and Gerald Van Meter of Aurora, Colo.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
