SIOUX CITY -- Denis N. Zimmerman, 74, of Omaha, formerly of Sioux City, died Wednesday, June 19, 2011 in Omaha.

Visitation and fellowship meal with the family will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with military rites at 6 p.m., at Reichmuth Funeral Home in Omaha. Condolences to www.reichmuthfuneralhomes.com.

Denis was born Dec. 29, 1936, in Sioux City. He graduated from Central High School in Sioux City in 1955, and attended Morningside College in Sioux City. He was a 23 year U.S. Navy veteran.

He was married on July 1, 1960, to Deanna Olson in Sioux City. He managed/owned Santa Surplus Seasonal Christmas Store with wife, Deanna for 30 years.

He is survived by wife, Deanna (Olson); sons, Andrew of Omaha, Eric (Oma) of Amarillo, Texas, Ryan (Rebecca) College Station, Texas; grandchildren, Amanda Smith, Evan Zimmerman, William Zimmerman, Thomas Zimmerman, Ian Zimmerman; great-grandchildren, Rose and Faith Smith; brothers, Bruce of Dakota City, Glen (Bonnie) of Charleston, S.C., and Alexander "Sandy" of Dakota City; sister-in-law, Erma Zimmerman of Sioux City; and his beloved Corgis, Teddy and Tillie.

He was preceded in death by parents, Gustav and Margaret Zimmerman; and brothers, Gordon, Gary, and Douglas.
