Stroke is Fatal to S.C. Woman

Mrs. Hugo Grubel Victim at Age of 65 --- Funeral Here Tuesday

A resident of Sioux City for the past 41 years, Mrs Nellie Grubel, 65 years old, died at her home, 1020 South Fairmount street, Sunday, after a paralytic stroke.

Mrs. Grubel was born in Norway on February 2, 1863, and came to Sioux City when she was 24 years old.

After her arrival in this country when she was 20 years old, she lived for four years with a sister at Northwood, Ia. She was married and came to Sioux City in 1887.

Mrs. Grubel suffered her first stroke of paralysis three years ago. She had been confined to her bed for three weeks.

Surviving her are her widower, five sons and one daughter. The latter are Henry, Charles, Anthony, and George Grubel, Sioux City; Hugo Grubel, jr., California, and Mrs. Harry Willis, Sioux City.

Five sisters, three of whom are expected to attend the funeral services also survive. Those who plan on being here for the services are Mrs. Carrie Olson, Sioux City; Mrs John Batland, Sioux Falls, S.D. and Mrs O. Walswick, of Northwood, Ia. A brother, Louis Fretheim, also lives in Sioux City.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the residence. Rev. Earl Benbow, pastor of the Third Presbytyrian church, will officiate. Interment will be in Floyd cemetery, under direction of Perasso Bros. undertaking establishment.
