Moville, Iowa—The Rev. Richard E. Zellmer, 66, of St. Ansgar and formerly of Moville, died Friday, April 23, 1993, at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville with the Rev. Michael A. Kroona officiating. Burial will be in the Arlington Township Cemetery at Moville. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. today at the church. The Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Zellmer was born March 16, 1927, in Sioux City, the son of Edmund G. and Emma (Balk) Zellmer. He was baptized May 8, 1927, and confirmed August 9, 1942, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville. He was raised on the family farm and attended Moville No. 6 Country School. He graduated in 1945 from Moville High School. In 1950 he graduated from Wartburg College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. On June 29, 1952, he married Minona E. Dettmann in Watertown, Wis. In 1954 he graduated from Wartburg Seminary after serving an internship in Seguin, Texas. He was ordained June 27, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville. He served rural parishes in Birnamwood, Wis., Monticello and Hopkinton, Iowa, Eldora, Iowa and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rock Township, near Grafton, Iowa. Since retiring in 1989, he served as interim pastor at Faith Lutheran Church in Mitchell, Iowa, and substituted at Congregations in northern Iowa.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mark and his wife, Debra Zellmer of Redwing, Minn. And Joel and his wife, Jodi Zellmer of Liberty Lake, Wash.; two daughters, Kristin Zellmer of Hudson, Iowa and Heidi Zellmer of Charles City, Iowa; four grandchildren, Timothy and Bethany Zellmer of Redwing and Eric of St. Ansgar and Jared of Charles City; and a brother Kenneth Zellmer of Moville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
