Moville, Iowa—Florence B. Thiesen, 86, of Moville died Monday at the Indian Hills Care Center of Sioux City.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Moville, with Monsignor Roger J. Augustine officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a parish vigil service at 7:30 p.m. at the church. McCulloch Funeral Home of Moville is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Thiesen was born September 21, 1910, in Kingsley, Iowa, the daughter of William and Mary (Fidlier) Mathers. She attended grade school in Kingsley, two years of high school at Cathedral Catholic School in Sioux City, and graduated from Moville High School in 1928. She attended Morningside College and received her certificate to teach in Woodbury County schools.

She married Henry Thiesen on June 10, 1931, in Moville. He died October 27, 1987, in Sioux City.

Mrs. Thiesen taught school in Wolf Creek and Arlington Township for several years. She was a bookkeeper with her husband’s business for a few years. From 1964 to 1972, she worked with special children at Harriet Ballow New Hope Center in Sioux City.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Thomas and Bar of Lawton, Iowa; two daughters and their husbands, Lorna and John Bungum of St. Peter, Minn. And Connie and Carson Ode of Des Moines, Iowa; four sisters, Madelyn Coomes of Tacoma, Wash, Sarah Tevis of Puyallup, Wash., Genevieve Martonik of Auburn, Wash, and Wilma Walling of Hollywood, California, 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marlene; a grandson Kelly and two sisters.
