HORNICK, Iowa -- L. Norma Cox, 85, formerly of Holly Springs, Iowa, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at Embassy Rehab and Care Center in Sergeant Bluff.

Burial was in Willow Township Cemetery at Holly Springs. Larkin Funeral Home in Sioux City handled the arrangements.

Mrs. Cox graduated from East High School in Sioux City, Wayne State Teachers College in Wayne, Neb., and San Diego State, receiving a master's degree in television education and a master's degree as a reading specialist. She taught one year at Holly Springs.

She married Orval Cox of Holly Springs in 1935. They farmed at Lawton, Iowa, and Holly Springs, then moved to California. They moved to Oxnard in 1962 for Orval's new job, and Norma started the reading program and taught in the Ventura school system. While teaching she earned her master's degrees.

In 1977 they retired to the farm in Holly Springs and spent several years traveling before buying a winter home in Mission, Texas.

Survivors include three sons, Orval Jr. of Hornick, Steven of Mapleton, Iowa, and George of Hornick; a daughter, Leanne of Hornick; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
