Howard W. Hana, 84, of Sioux City died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Timothy Hogan officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Anthon, Iowa, with military rites conducted. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Monday.

Howard Hana was born July 16, 1918 in Elgin, Neb., the son of William and Violet (Bomar) Hana. He graduated from Oakdale, Neb. High School.

He married Cleo Carr on Jan. 3, 1940 in Sioux City. Mrs. Carr died Sept. 3, 1983 in Sioux City. Mr. Hana lived most of his life in Sioux City. He had worked for many years for Ray V. Mitchell Distributing and Messer Distributing. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was active in China, Burma and India Theaters.

He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

Survivors include a brother, Donald Hana and his wife, Jerri of Carson City, Nev.; a special friend, Ardella Fuhrman of Sioux City; three sisters-in-law, Corinne Johnston of Storm Lake, Iowa, Lucille Hana of Clear Lake, Iowa and Vera Hoppe of Winter Haven, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Leonard Carr of Ocala, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Hana and two sisters, Doris Speer and Leona Murphy.

Pallbearers will be Walter Morris, George Duzik, Robert Marx and Leo Vastine.
