Wanda Jaydean Henkel, 71, of Sioux City died Thursday October 17, 1996, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Private family memorial services will be held Monday at the Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton, Iowa, with the Rev. Dr. Robert Peters, church pastor officiating. Burial of the ashes will be in Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton. There will be no visitation. The Anderson-Perasso Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Henkel, the former Wanda Timson, was born November 14, 1924, in Red Oak, Iowa, the daughter of Charles J and Tela (Woodrum) Timson. She married Glenn Dale Henkel on September 26, 1959, in Sioux City. Mrs. Henkel worked at governmental offices in Washington and then for JC Penny, the Zenith Corp; and the Credit Bureau of Sioux City. She retired about 1986.

Mrs. Henkel was a member of the Church of Christ in Morningside, the Neighborhood Club, and Sisters of The Star.

Survivors include her husband; two sons and their wives, Steve J. and Cindy Owen of Hubbard, Nebr. and Dan K. and Jean Owens of Salix, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Sue Lan and Roger Horsley of Lawton; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Opal and Helen.
