Ruth L. Simonin, 64, of Sioux City died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at her residence of cancer.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Morningside Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Roger D. Graf officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton, Iowa. Visitation will be 3:30 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Mrs. Simonin was born Aug. 29, 1938, on the family farm near Lawton, the daughter of Carl Herbert and Ethel Marie (Wilson) Willer. She graduated from Lawton High School in 1956 and from Wayne State College in 1960.

She married Robert Simonin on June 4, 1960, at Presbyterian Church in Lawton. From 1960 to 1963, the couple lived in Danbury, Iowa, and moved to Sioux City in 1963. She taught school in Holly Springs and Smithland, Iowa, and substituted in Sioux City from 1975 to 1980. She was also employed with Hickory Farms from 1981 to 2001.

She was a member of Morningside Presbyterian Church, serving as a former deaconess, the church choir, Rainbow Girls and the Clipper Club. She was a former 4-H member and belonged to the Sioux City Home Ec Club. She enjoyed singing, dancing, flowers, playing the piano and spending time with her family and their activities.

Survivors include her husband, Robert of Sioux City; her children, Michele and her husband, Robert Koerner of Anthon, Iowa, Steve Simonin of Clarion, Iowa, and Amy Simonin of Story City, Iowa; a sister, Carlene Davis of Sioux City; a brother, Jim Willer of Lawton; a sister-in-law, Barb Willer of Lawton; and four grandchildren, Timothy and Jennifer Chwirka and David and Eric Koerner.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, George Willer.

Pallbearers will be Loren Bush, Bob Dorr, Stuart Oliver, Maurice Schenkelberg, Larry Watson and Mike Willer.
