SIOUX CITY -- Myrtle N. "Myrt" Schutt, 83, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Casa de Paz Care Center following a brief illness.

Private family services will be at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, with Chaplain Steve Benson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Myrtle was born Jan. 2, 1928, in Hendricks, Minn., the daughter of John Tom and Nora (Selleck) Lang. Her family moved to Sioux City in 1944 when she was 14 years old.

On Oct. 6, 1947, she married Henry "Hank" Schutt in Sioux City. She was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother of two sons, Henry and Larry.

In earlier years, she was an active member of Westlawn Presbyterian Church. Myrt loved to travel and enjoyed wintering in Texas with her husband. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing and crafts.

Myrt is survived by her husband of 63 years, Henry "Hank"; a sister, Donna Tanner of Minneapolis; a daughter-in-law, Judy Schutt of Sioux City; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Henry F. Schutt and Larry Schutt; her parents; and 10 siblings.

Memorials may be made in her name to Westlawn Presbyterian Church.
