SIOUX CITY -- Ella L. Lauritsen, 92, of Sioux City died Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at a local hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Riverside Lutheran Church, with Rev. Charles Wolff officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Ella Loraine Lauritsen was born July 8, 1918, in Sioux City, the daughter of Jens and Mathilde (Nielsen) Lauritsen. She was a lifetime resident of Sioux City. She attended Central High School, graduating in 1936. Ella attended Morningside College, graduating in 1940 and went on to receive her master's degree in library science from the University of Minnesota in 1941.

Ella worked for the Sioux City Public Library for 41 years. She was a professional story teller and wrote and told many stories for the children who came to the library.

She was a life member of Order of the Eastern Star and also a member of Quota Club for many years. She was a lifetime member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church until it closed. Many will remember all the meals she and her sister cooked and served for the church. She became a member of the Riverside Lutheran Church. Some of Ella's interests were writing and telling stories, sewing, cooking and entertaining. She and her sister, Margaret, traveled to many foreign countries as well as all over the United States.

She is survived by her cousins, Orla and Inger Tinggaard in Denmark, and Glen Christensen and his wife, Dolly of Hinton, Iowa; and many friends.
