SIOUX CITY -- Donald R. Lucart, 77, of Sioux City, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2011, at a local hospital.

Abiding by family wishes, cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with Karl Luther officiating. Private burial will take place at a later date. Visitation, with family present, will be one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.

Donald was born on March 14, 1934, in Sioux City, to Lloyd and Ruth (Copple) Lucart. He received his education in Sioux City before marrying Constance O'Dea on Sept. 10, 1955 in South Sioux City, Neb. Donald served his country through the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Following his honorable discharge, Donald returned to Sioux City where he worked alongside his father in an auto repair business on West 7th Street for 10 years. He made a career change by joining Shindler Salvage, where he was the heavy equipment crane operator until his retirement in 1993.

Donald enjoyed fishing, camping, boating and sitting by a campfire. He enjoyed his membership to River City Anglers and was an excellent mechanic. Donald had a very upbeat personality and was always giving of himself to help others. His family will always remember him as loving and an awesome Dad and Uncle.

Donald is survived by his children, Donald "Junior" Lucart and his wife, Tina, Lloyd Lucart and his wife, Shelly, Clark Lucart and his wife, Arleen, and Linda Richter and her husband, Rob, all of Sioux City; sweetheart, Alma Hoag of Sioux City; grandchildren, Sara Lucart, Clark Lucart Jr., Beau Lucart and Justin Lucart; and sister, Sandy Buck and her husband, Jim of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Constance in 2004; sister, Pearle Kay Johnson; and niece, Paula Johnson.
