SIOUX CITY -- Lorraine Mary Case, 82, of Sioux City died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Touchstone Living Center.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. R. Paul Johnson officiating. Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Friday in Gayville Community Cemetery, Gayville, S.D. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Lorraine was born July 18, 1928, in Yankton, S.D., the daughter of Arthur and Mary (Kantor) Olson. She graduated from Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing in Yankton, receiving her degree in nursing.

She married Raymond Case on July 13, 1952, in Irene, S.D. They resided in Sioux City, in the Leeds area all their married life, 59 years. Her career as a registered nurse began at Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton in pediatrics. She did private nursing in Sioux City during the polio epidemic in the early 1950s. After raising her children, she returned to nursing and worked at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center as a psychiatric nurse, retiring after 24 years in 1990.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. In earlier years, she was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, then First Lutheran Church. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader in the Leeds area. She loved traveling by car, rail, bus and boat throughout the U.S. and Norway. She also enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles and serving holiday dinners to her family.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond L. Case of Sioux City; two daughters, Lori Stokes (Donald) of Blue Springs, Mo., and Susan McGowan (Clarence) of Grand Island, Neb.; a son, John Case (Suzi) of Ankeny, Iowa; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Duane; and a grandson, Kyle.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Olson, Dale Olson, Warren Olson, Eldon Olson and Chris Olson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church Sunday School program.
